I think that's just a flat out lie. And how do you make that statement? Based on what facts?

Well I don't believe that at all.

When I was a kid I would ride my tricycle to the 5 & 10 cent store two blocks away with my money in my hand to buy candy. All by myself.

The biggest fear we had in schools was getting too much homework, today whether we make it home in one piece.

The truth of the matter is that for all the challenges we face, all the problems that we have,...if you had to choose any moment to be born in human history, not knowing what your position was going to be, who you were going to be, you'd choose this time. The world is less violent than it has ever been. It is healthier than it has ever been. It is more tolerant than it has ever been. It is better fed then it's ever been. It is more educated than it's ever been.

Terrible things happen around the world every single day, but the trend lines of progress are unmistakable.

Hmmmm, in the entire history of the world, I'm not sure I agree that this is the least violent time ever. But, I'm not saying I want to go back and choose another time to live either.

The whole quote changes nothing. I do not agree with the assertion that everyone would choose this time in history, and I don't believe this time period is the least violent, best educated, and healthiest.
