i like to "re-purpose" things...i like to go to thrift stores, yard sales, flea markets, etc...if i see something with an interesting shape, etc i try to think of a way i could use it...take it home and paint it...maybe distress it...fill it with flowers in the yard...put a candle in it..use a silver bowl to fill it with heart shaped objects: ornaments, rocks, glass, etc... needless to say, my tiny house is filled to the brim with "pretties"... i still have a storage unit stuffed with furniture and things i couldn't bring when i sold my other house...i also like rougher, more primitive things for my mountain house...much much les sparkly, for sure!

glamourchicken that sounds like fun. I'd like to start doing that for flowers. I did find an old teapot in the basement this year and I filled it with flowers. I use to have an old chair in the front garden, but that rotted out.

i made large ottomans for each of my kids' houses... i used a crib mattress...free...and a piece of 2x4 plywood...3/4" thick... used a 4x4 cut to length for the 4 legs...attached them... used an old blanket to "line" it...stapled underneath... then i cut up an old quilt and covered the top, stapling it underneath... painted and distressed the legs... cheap, sturdy and easy...

just picture a large 2x4 upholstered ottoman... i nailed the legs in from the top...used a million nails...glued first...probably screws would be better... put a large squiggle of glue on the top...then laid it on top of the mattress...legs in the air... although, the staples keep the mattress secure once you put the muslin, old sheet, flannel or whatever on...i used an old mattress cover for one...made it a little plushier... you guys should know better than to ask for a picture from me! oh...i also cut a little of the corners off, just to make it less sharp on the edges...

Wow! That's cool glam!! I wish I could 'see' to repurpose stuff like that. I really don't have any hobbies anymore. Years ago I did cross stitch. I do like to read.

I did the latch hook too, no idea what happened to them. They were kinda fun.
The other day I heard of a woman who uses plastic grocery bags and crochets them into throw rugs. They would be great outdoors.
